What is interventional Cardiology?

Interventional cardiology uses nonsurgical catheter-based treatment techniques to open up or treat blocked arteries in the heart and other areas of the body. These procedures are generally less invasive than traditional open-heart surgery and are used to treat patients with hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart valve disease or coronary microvascular disease.
